GOiNTERIM at the WIL Group Annual Conference 2025 in Warsaw
As part of the WIL Group, GOiNTERIM was also significantly represented at this year’s annual conference in Warsaw. Our Managing Director Martin Ludwig Mayr contributed key perspectives from the DACH region and discussed the future of interim management with international experts.
Current trends in interim management & challenges
A key topic was the current market development in Europe. While there is a noticeable dip in demand for interim solutions in some countries, the market in the DACH region remains stable. According to the latest AIMP study, the market volume here is over EUR 3.09 billion. Companies value interim managers in particular for their speed, flexibility and external perspective – especially in times of economic uncertainty.
At the same time, challenges are also present: price and margin pressure, intense competition and the growing need for specialization and digital expertise are increasingly shaping the market environment.
Relevant developments & topics from Poland and the market
- Poland’s economy is growing dynamically: forecasts were ~ 2.9 % for 2024, around 3.4 % are expected for 2025. The structure remains broadly diversified – approx. 57 % services, 30 % industry, 13 % agriculture.
- The interim market in Poland: strong growth, more activity especially among SMEs and family businesses. Large listed companies are even rarer clients.
Focus on M&A, private equity and international cooperation
Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) was another key conference topic. In Poland and the CEE region, there is a growing interest in cross-border transactions – particularly in sectors such as technology, renewable energies, infrastructure and healthcare. At the same time, regulatory requirements are increasing, for example in the context of EU legislation or FDI audits, which underlines the importance of early strategic planning.
The private equity sector in the region is also continuing to grow – new funds, alternative forms of financing and international investors are providing additional momentum. International panels provided insights into best practices for deal structuring, transaction financing and dealing with valuation differences.
The contributions on cross-border projects and the role of interim managers in post-merger integrations, transition management and value creation were particularly valuable.
International trends in interim management
In several sessions, global trends that are currently shaping interim management were identified:
- Strategic deployment instead of just bridging vacancies
Interim managers are increasingly being used for transformations, post-merger integrations, restructuring and digital projects. - Digitalization & Technology
Experts are in demand internationally, especially for IT transformation, process automation, AI-supported optimization and cybersecurity. - Cross-border projects & global networking
Interim managers play a key role in the transfer of know-how between markets, in M&A or internationalization projects. - Private equity & M&A-driven demand
Interim managers ensure value creation before and after transactions, accompany integrations and provide operational expertise in due diligence processes. - Flexibility, efficiency & cost control
Companies benefit from temporary top expertise without taking long-term personnel risks – especially in times of skills shortages. - ESG & sustainability
Interim managers are increasingly involved in ESG initiatives, sustainability strategies and regulatory adjustments.
Potential for companies & investors
Several key potentials for the use of interim management emerged from the discussions at the conference:
- Rapid implementation of proven models in new markets
- Support with market development and internationalization
- Professional support for change processes and integrations
- Increasing value creation and ROI in M&A transactions
- Access to highly specialized, flexibly deployable managers
