The Interim Management network meeting took place again yesterday in Munich. The DDIM.lokal meeting was once again fully booked and the interim scene met again to exchange ideas.
In addition to current topics and discussions on the current market situation, there was a keynote speech with intensive discussion on the topic of interviews: Do’s & Dont’s – What is the best way to prepare for the interview with the client? What is important in the client interview in order to get the mandate?
The most important key findings are:
– Preparation, preparation, preparation
The customer does not want to go through the CV endlessly. It is available and known. It is important to be well prepared here in order to be able to talk to the customer at eye level. Addressing the important topics and demonstrating your own experience in the relevant area are crucial here.
– Listen, listen, listen
It is important to start a conversation with the customer. Use the interview to find out even more information and details about the project and the objectives. And that means active listening!
– Thinking for yourself
What information do you still need? What are the important issues? What framework conditions and requirements are necessary to be able to make a decision for the project and, above all, to be able to successfully implement the project in a second step?
Many other topics were discussed, and experiences were brought in and discussed in different ways. It quickly became clear that the interview is a very important part of the process. Preparation also means effort, but it more than pays off.
We can only confirm this. At GOiNTERIM, we also see the role of the interim provider, who has already had several discussions with the client, knows the topic very well and can therefore also advise and brief the interim manager well, as a central role. The interim provider has a very important role to play here: the more knowledgeable they are on the subject, the better they can support and advise both the client and the manager.
